We know just how hard it can be to have good climate conversations.

So we did something about it!

Created by Project Planet, Climate for Change, and Dr Blanche Verlie from the University of Sydney, the Climate Conversation Deck is a 54-card deck that doubles as both a conversation game AND a standard playing deck.

Each suit explores a different side of the climate experience — from learning and feelings, to solutions and action — designed to make climate conversations easier, deeper, and (believe it or not) more fun!

The deck is now available as a limited-run pre-order, launching just in time for the holidays. Order before November 9 to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

Use it anywhere you want to spark a real conversation — over dinner, on road trips, at the pub, or sitting around a campfire. It’s a tool for connecting, reflecting, and maybe even laughing about the world we’re trying to save together.

A note on sustainability

Is it hypocritical for us to criticise consumerism's role in the climate crisis and then introduce merchandise? Absolutely. However, rest assured that we are committed to offering products that adhere to the most rigorous ethical standards.

We've collaborated with the fantastic team at The Common Good to create The Tee - crafted from a blend of 60% recycled cotton and 40% recycled polyester yarn - and The Tote - made from 100% recycled cotton. Our approach involves releasing only limited quantities, avoiding excessive stockpiling, and continuously evolving to maintain the highest (hottest) operational standards possible.

Shipping & Returns

We ship to anywhere in Australia. Shipping is $10 on all orders and should take around 5-8 business days (we're just a couple of volunteers though so bear with us if there's the occasional delay!)

Unfortunately we are not able to offer returns or exchanges at this stage (unless your item is faulty in which case please email us hello@projectplanet.org.au). Please make sure you check your sizing before ordering and reach out if you have any questions!

The Climate Conversation Deck is currently available as a pre-order!

Orders will close on November 9th so we can focus on shipping everything out before Christmas. Orders will reopen in the new year and stay open from then on. From that point, please allow 5–8 business days for delivery (we’re a small volunteer team, so we appreciate your patience if things take a day or two longer!).

We ship anywhere in Australia. Shipping is $10 on all orders, but if you’re a friend of Project Planet or Climate for Change local pick up is also available in Melbourne or Sydney - just reach out to us before you order to confirm!

Unfortunately, we don’t offer returns or exchanges (unless your item arrives faulty — if that happens, please email mary@climateforchange.org.au).

But we’ve designed this project with intention. While the decks are being produced in China to keep costs low and make them accessible to more people, every design and packaging choice has been made with environmental impact front of mind.

We’re releasing limited quantities to avoid waste and overproduction, using responsible materials wherever possible, and continuously evolving to keep our operations as low-impact as possible.

It’s not perfect — but it’s progress.
